Who is Plains Collective?

This is our vision for this year: 2026 Indigenous Arts & Culture Festival
Presented by Plains Collective & the Watonga Cheese Festival October 9–10, 2026 • Watonga, Oklahoma

Dear Artists, Culture Bearers, Demonstration Chefs, Performers, and Community Partners,
Plains Collective warmly invites you to take part in the 2026 Indigenous Arts & Culture Festival, held in partnership with the Watonga Cheese Festival.
Last year’s inaugural collaboration brought together thousands of visitors, vibrant artists, powerful performers, and culture keepers who showcased the strength, beauty, and ongoing traditions of Cheyenne, Arapaho, and other Indigenous nations. We are building on that momentum — and we’d be honored to have you with us.
Why Participate?

  • Celebrate Culture: Share your art, food, stories, regalia, language, and teachings with a wide, welcoming
    audience.
  • Grow Your Reach: The Cheese Festival draws thousands of visitors each year — giving unprecedented visibility to Indigenous creators.
  • Support Community: Help continue a partnership that brings Native presence back to historic Watonga spaces and uplifts intertribal representation.
  • Honor Our History: Together, we highlight the deep connection our people have to this land, from pre- reservation homelands to the present day.
    Opportunities for 2026
We are now accepting interest from anyone who wants to share their gifts and talents; people who want to volunteer and individuals who have a talent to share.
